Area: 125,000 sq ft
This town centre regeneration scheme brought dramatic improvements to the townscape, in Acton London. Incorporating photo voltaic panels and terraced gardens, the development introduces a much needed organic, social element to a built-up area.
The site was based on a single level, run-down 1960's shopping centre with rooftop parking, and the scheme introduced a major supermarket as an anchor unit, and more retail on a second level at the extended site.
The accommodation above the retail and car park, including 250 flats and houses, and 300 units of student accommodation brought a new lease of life to the area. Further developments encompassed a creation of community facilities, a new public car park, and pedestrian routes across the site.
